Large paper Doll Series: "Everything is not Black and White". This series of work started with paper dolls and turned into an infusion of color. It also brought back a memory of my mother. Many years ago I worked in an office in our rural downtown and told her she should drive into town and we could have lunch together. We had recently been shopping at “Leflers” and she’d bought herself a nice pair of black slacks and a black and white blouse.
The date arrived and I could see the parking lot from my office window. Her little silver Ford Escort drove up and sure enough my 88 yr-old mother was all dressed up and had a smile on her face. She opened the door and as her foot touched the ground, I could see her bright purple socks. Everything is not black and white.
